ABOUT
THE ARTIST –
Shirley Lindsay Weisbrod is originally from Chicago, though she has spent many years in Wisconsin as well as shorter stints in England, Connecticut, and other locations before returning to Chicago. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and also received a Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin. She spent a year at Yale University where she studied sculpture with Erwin Hauer and was introduced to etching by master printmaker Gabor Peterdi. Her work has been exhibited over the past 30 years in galleries spanning the country, including Illinois, California, Florida, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Her work is also in the permanent collections of the Miller Brewing Company, Delaware Trust Co., Mercy Catholic Medical Center (PA) and many other companies and institutions. Her mixed media was the monthly showcase selection of the Gallery of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. Her graphics (Apple Trees IV) won first prize in the Madison Art Guild Salon of Art. Mrs. Weisbrod is also co-author of the book, “Etchings and Fragments”, featuring etchings by Shirley Weisbrod and poetry by Rita Summers.
